Since April is National Poetry Month, tell us your all-time favorite poet. Click on the red question below and then type in the name of your favorite poet. It will create a "word cloud" of all the answers.

April is National Poetry Month! Stop in and tell us who your favorite poet is by either posting a comment or clicking on the red link that asks " Who is your all-time favorite poet?" It will create a collage of all the poets' names.

Naomi Shahib Nye is a poet whose work speaks to me tho it is hard to choose a favorite all-time poet. There are so many who have written wonderful poems like shards of glass that illuminate while sticking in the eye and soul.

I doubt very much that I could ever successfully choose, let alone defend the choice of a favorite poet. I suspect I would assemble a crowd too large for any Parnassus, be it Greek or Appalachian. That said, I'll say for this day, only two, William Bronk who gets under my skin like few others do, and Lorine Niedecker who, with the advent of spring, is always there, delicate and unflinching from saying the hard things sweetly.

Laura - At the moment I have three, first would be William Stafford and tied with him also in first place is Mary Oliver. Second place would be Rumi and third is Lucille Clifton. It is always so hard to choose because I seem to fall in love with a different poet almost every time a real a new poem.
